"When I was in middle school, I started going to church at the suggestion of the lady who ran the stationery shop near my house. I attended for several years, but as I grew older, I began to struggle with sin. I didn’t know what to do about it.
One day at work, I saw a coworker studying a small booklet. When I asked about it, I found out that it was an Emmaus Bible School course. I got the phone number and contacted them, saying that I wanted to study the Bible too. I started with Bible Survey 1 and studied diligently.
I believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but I didn’t have assurance of salvation. That troubled me deeply. Eventually, through the words of 1 John 5, (Emmaus Course "Securely Saved and Sure of It) I came to realize that those who believe have eternal life, and I gained assurance of my salvation. After that, I moved from a regular Methodist church to our Brethren assembly.
There, I got married in the Lord, and now I have a son and a daughter, as well as grandchildren—all of whom are living their lives of faith in the Lord.
Through the Emmaus ministry, I truly came to understand the gospel that led me to believe in the Lord Jesus. Because of that, whenever I have an opportunity, I share with everyone that Jesus Christ truly is their Savior.
At my workplace, I shared the gospel with my coworkers, and about ten of them have come to salvation. Our company is now printing the Emmaus Bible School materials, and I consider it a great honor to be involved.
Whenever there’s any work or project related to the Emmaus Bible School, I run eagerly to help. I’m also very thankful to meet you (Marlon Govender) today, brother, and as I hear about what God is doing through Emmaus around the world, I hope that when you introduce Emmaus in other places, you’ll also share that the ministry in Korea is going well.
Thank you very much."
What an incredible testimony of God’s grace and the power of His Word!
We’re so encouraged by this story from one of our Emmaus students in Korea, who first encountered the Gospel through an Emmaus Bible course, and is now sharing that same truth with others in her workplace and community.
Let’s continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Korea as they study, serve, and spread the message of Christ!
